Meet 'Marion'; The Nurse, The Baby And Now The Bracelet
Marion is the longest serving employee of the health centre in Mannya Village, Uganda. As the Head Nurse of the maternity ward, Marion spends her days safely delivering the babies of Mannya and caring for their mothers.
Becoming a mother is a special time in any woman’s life. In many developing countries including Uganda, the maternal health services we take for granted are not readily available.
Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our Cotton On Kids’ customers last year, the new maternity ward was built and in March this year, Marion cut the ribbon to officially open it. This was a fitting way to recognise her work with the mothers and babies of Mannya Village over the years.
The family of the first born baby in that new maternity ward aptly named their little girl Marion, after the Head Nurse.
And now, we’ve named the “Marion bracelet”.
Cotton On Kids is again helping to create change in the lives of mothers and their babies in Mannya Village, by raising funds for the Cotton On Foundation with the release of neon “Marion bracelets”.
Connect with a mother and her baby in Mannya Village by purchasing a limited edition bracelet for only $1. All profits from the sale of the “Marion Bracelet” will go towards furnishing the new health centre with much needed infant cots, rocking chairs, guest bedding, family chairs, storage shelves and mosquito nets. Available in Cotton On KIDS stores around the world or shop online here (Australia only).
Thank you to Marion for her invaluable contribution to the Mannya community, and thank you to the Cotton On Kids customers for supporting something that is changing the lives of people in Uganda.
