Next month, we open the doors to the brand new Nubbunga Primary School for 500 children in a remote village of Southern Uganda.
Together with Cotton On, we’ve raised $1 million over the past 18 months which has helped fund this new facility that will have a long-lasting and invaluable impact on the community.
The new Primary School includes 10 classrooms, two offices for teachers, a staff room, teacher’s housing for five staff, kitchen, toilet facilities, playing field, vegetable garden, access to clean water, two meals a day for all students and agricultural areas to promote sustainability.
So give yourselves a pat on the back! It’s YOU, our incredible retail teams and customers who have helped make this happen. Proceeds raised through the sale of Cotton On Foundation product in Cotton On stores across Australia, New Zealand, USA, has helped fund this life-changing project.
“It’s amazing what can happen when we all work together. Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and through the generosity of our customers and community we can now provide a quality education to 500 children in Nubbunga Village, which is an inspiring result for everyone involved,” Cotton On Foundation General Manager, Tim Diamond.
As we gear up for the grand opening in a few weeks’ time, this Thursday 8th September marks World Literacy Day, which is a good time for us to pause and think about literacy and education globally.
THANK YOU for everything that you’re doing to help us empower youth globally, and on our journey to create 20,000 educational places by 2020. Without you, we simply couldn’t do what we do!
