Whilst we often celebrate the women in Southern Uganda, we want to shine the spotlight on an incredible father who is doing his utmost to support his large family and provide them with a better future.
Meet Jumah who lives in Busibo village, along with his wife, their 12 children and several other family members.
Jumah is a keen entrepreneur and a member of the microfinance program in Busibo, which provides low cost loans to people who do not have access to typical banking services.
Microfinance provides opportunity to people like Jumah. It is the difference between an endless cycle of poverty, and a lifetime of opportunity!
By tapping into the microfinance scheme, Jumah has been able to set-up several ventures including a banana plantation, chicken pens that provide a regular supply of eggs and he’s also purchased goats for his family. Through these ventures, he has been able to earn an income and provide his children with an education.
What an inspiration! Nine children are currently at school, two have completed their University studies, and the future looks very bright for his two-year old toddler too who will no doubt follow in her older brothers and sisters’ footsteps.
It’s only through the support of our customers that we’re able to set-up such schemes for the communities of Southern Uganda.
Through this opportunity, Jumah’s been able to lift his family out of poverty, provide his children with an education and inspire this new generation to achieve their own dreams.
From little things big things really do grow!
